Basic Soap Making: July 17 6-8pm
This is a basic class in the art of cold process soap making. Admission includes several bars of soap you make that day that you will need to cure, a bar of Blessed Creek boxed soap to enjoy at home as well as a booklet of soap formulas and resources. Wear long-sleeved shirts and bring a small box and an old towel. Register early as class size is very limited. $65 |
Shrubs, Switchels and Mocktails: July 22 6-8pm
Shrubs and Switchels are both traditional North American 18th century beverages. Shrubs were all the rage in colonial America. They also served as an acceptable alternative to alcoholic spirits during the Temperance movement. Shrubs help combat heat and keep energy levels up and were often consumed when in the field for a long day of work. Switchels are instant shrubs—we will be combining honey, and molasses and apple cider vinegar to make a spicy ginger switchel. Now let’s use those two skills to make some pretty cool non-alcoholic drink alternatives, fruit and herb focused. You will go home with a book of recipes and the skill to create your own glass of awesomeness. $40 Herbal Oil Infusions: July 24 6-8pm
(Prep for Salves and balms class held on 8/27) In this class, you will learn which plants to gather and how to prepare them to infuse into specific oils that you can use for topical healing. In the sister class you will use your oils (and/or mine) to create your own custom salves and balms for just about any topical application. You will go home with information, formulas, and an unstoppable desire to gather raw plant materials to make your own oils. It is highly recommended to take this oil making class in advance of Salves and Balms so you will have a good grasp on the plants and their strengths. $45 Herbal Tinctures: July 31 6-8pm
A tincture is a concentrated herbal extract made by soaking the bark, berries, leaves (dried or fresh), or roots alcohol or vinegar. You will learn the best way to extract the active ingredients from a variety of plants and concentrate them as a liquid. Tinctures have been used for millennia in traditional herbal medicine, and they make it easy to consume the natural health-boosting chemicals found in certain plants. This is a fast-moving class, and you will learn both the folk method and calculation method. You will take home a tincture you have started as well as a book of reliable information and sources $45 Sugar Scrubs: August 13 6-8pm
Sugar Scrubs are a total skincare awesomeness that physically exfoliates dead skin and moisturizes at the same time. Sugar scrubs leave the skin smoother, brighter, and more radiant. You will learn to make and take home an emulsified sugar scrub for your arms and legs that is effective, decadent and is not greasy yet moisturizes as well as a book of recipes. You will also learn about oils that are suitable for your particular skin. $40 Laundry Detergent Class: August 16 6-9pm
Discover the benefits of creating your own laundry detergent, including safe ingredients and practical methods. Learn to make liquid, powdered, cream, and drop-in detergents. Take home ample laundry soap and a comprehensive book of formulas suitable for both conventional and HE washers. $40 Body Butters: August 20 6-9pm
Body butter is a thick and rich moisturizer made from natural oils such as shea butter, cocoa butter, and almond oil. Body butter provides long-lasting hydration for your skin. and It’s an excellent choice for those with dry skin, as it can help lock in moisture and nourish the skin. Learn to make your own using oils that specifically fit your personal skin type. You will go home with body butter and a book of recipes. $40 Salves and Balms and Liniments: August 27 6-9pm
In this class, you will learn which plants to gather and how to prepare them to infuse into the oils that you will use to create your own custom salves, balms and liniments. We will also use some essential oils and local beeswax in the process. You will go home with information, recipes, and a sample of what you make. It is highly recommended to take the oil making class in advance so you will have a good grasp on the ingredients. $45 Oxymels: September 4 6-9pm
Oxymels have been used since the time of Hippocrates. Learn the art and craft of making Oxymels for your own specific needs. We will be using raw local honey and organic raw apple cider vinegar and herbs with specific medicinal properties. You will go home with a formula you make specifically for you and a book of oxymel and elixir suggestions. $45 Healing Elixirs and Syrups Class: September 9 6-9pm
Take control of your health! Now is the time to learn to make your own healing elixirs and syrups. Herbal Syrups and Elixirs offer a potent blend of health benefits. You will make an adaptogenic herbal blend elixir for vitality and healing and create a syrup for either sleep, grief or cough that is perfect for your specific needs. Learn all about the benefits of fermented foods that you won't learn by studying the Standard American Diet. We need fermented foods for health and weight loss. Experience how easy it is to produce your own fermented foods such as sauerkraut, beet kvass, kombucha, assorted condiments, mayonnaise, yogurt and more. This is a hands-on class, and you will be taking home some of what you make as well as a recipe book. $45 Lotions: September 18 6-8:30pm
Making your own lotion offers several advantages. You control the ingredients, avoid artificial fragrances and unnecessary preservatives commonly found in commercial lotions. You can use oils that compliment your skin as well as learning about SAFE preservatives. You will make a fabulous lotion of a beeswax base and a conventional formula, both to take home along with recipes you can use and never have to buy a lotion again. $45 Winter Wellness Herbal Cold and Flu Care September 6 10-4
Let's learn the why's of colds and flu, how to prevent, reduce and eliminate symptoms. We will make Fire Cider, Vitamin C Pills, Elderberry Syrup, Elderberry Oxymel, and Preventative Tea to take home with you. Complimentary healthy soup and bread will be served for lunch and tea is available all day. Maximum of 8 students. Bring a friend and meet new ones.
